Day 3: Grab Free Credit Reports

Today’s Easy Financial Task: Get your free credit report(s).

How to rock this task:

  1. Watch the video
  2. Go to www.experian.com, www.transunion.com, and www.equifax.com or www.annualcreditreport.com, to get your free credit reports.

Hey there Dream Catchers! It’s Day 3 of the Challenge. Guess what?

Once a week during the Challenge, I’ll bring the daily task to you through a video.

Take a moment to watch the video below!

Remember, this week is ALL about Credit Knowledge. That means I want you to understand what credit is and how it truly works. Next week you'll begin to the work toward fixing your credit. Woot Woot!

Back to your task....

Today is all about getting your credit report(s) for free and knowing how to read your credit report(s).

Remember, you have three credit reports because there are three different major credit reporting agencies -  Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

How to Grab Your Free Credit Report(s):

Each of the credit bureaus allows you to get one free credit report every 12 months. You can get your reports all at once, or you can space them out throughout the year.

To pull your credit report, you can contact each credit bureau here:

You can also get it through one of my favorite sites, www.annualcreditreport.com. (in case you didn't get it yesterday).

What I like about this site is that not only do you get your credit report for free, they teach you how to read, improve and maintain it for free too! It will not ask for your credit card. It will ask you to verify information that only you know about. Make sure you have access to a printer so you can print each one or save as a .pdf to access it later.

Yesterday, we went through an overview of the information that appears on your credit report.

If after reading your credit report you find errors or incomplete records, don’t be alarmed!

We will discuss how to clean up your credit report next week.

My Lisa Rule: I have 4 sisters and Lisa is the baby (well she’s not a baby anymore). Of all of my sisters, I’m the most protective over her. Before I share any product or service with you, it must pass my Lisa Rule.

What’s the Lisa Rule? If I would not advise Lisa to use a product or service, I won’t advise you to either. YOU are my Lisa's. I feel protective over you and your financial journey.

The products and services I recommend pass my Lisa Rule. Yes, I may be an affiliate or partner and earn a commission off of referrals or income, but I would not recommend a product or service that I didn’t believe was helpful and useful.

  • Thank you Tiffany the information is great! I’m learning so much… I feel joy & overwhelmed with anxiety at the same time.

  • SoFi could not retrieve my credit report from TransUnion. So, I got my credit scores from the three credit bureaus from my Experian account. My credit scores are Experian 826, Equifax 817, and TransUnion 815. My credit card usage is 4%. By the time this challenge is over, I plan to pay the balance on one of my credit cards, which will lower my credit card usage and increase my credit scores. During the challenge, I want to learn why the credit scores from the three credit bureaus differ.

    • Girl, you are rocking and rolling. That is awesome. I have no doubt you will reach your goal. That is definitely inspiring.

  • I am excited to learn as much as I can from this experience so I can put them in practice and secure a better financial future. I feel like my credit has been stuck for years even though I pay all my bills on time but obviously I am not doing something right but I am not sure what that is.

  • I used the annual credit report site in July 2023 to obtain my credit reports from the 3 bureaus. I am concerned that any new information that I may need to correct or update will not appear. Any suggestions on the next steps to take?

  • Thanks Tiffany, I was able to get all 3 of my credit reports and started a dispute with Transunion to get rid of all the old addresses, phone numbers, and jobs. This year I have a stick to it attitude and I will reduce my debt and increase my NetWorth.

  • I received two out of the three credit report. I was also able to get my credit score. Working on paying down my credit cards and student loans. Got a lot of work to do but I’m in it to win it.

  • It’s a work in progress. I have 2 of them and working on the third one. I have been ahead of the daily assignment; so I’m going to slow my roll down. LOL

  • #Experian sent out all 3 reports, I didn’t have to call other two agencies. Sofi link doesn’t work not sure why.
The Annual Credit Report.com link is very Helpful monignoring one’s finances, identity theft, disputing errors and correcting issues.#

  • I was able to get 2 credit reports online but had to call Equifax for them to mail me a credit report. But it was super easy and I was able to get my score and 2 out of 3 reports so feeling good, feeling great! Can’t wait to see these scores go up for all of us!
